Equine Facilitated Wellness
ROLE OF THE EQUINE: The equine is a sentient being, partner and co-facilitator in the equine facilitated relationship and process. Equines have their own perceptions and emotions, and can attune themselves to the presence and feelings of others. Through their remarkable sensitivity, perceptiveness, and intuition, equines are able to provide valuable feedback and information to clients.

Effectiveness of Partnering with Equines
Why Horses ?
Partnering with equines brings awareness to areas in which we desire change or improvement in our lives, while accepting that we are enough just as we are.
Studies have resulted in a body of literature supporting the therapeutic value of the human-animal interaction, These interactions may help in the areas of self awareness and acceptance, self esteem, self confidence, boundary issues, leadership, anxiety, safe relationships, being grounded and mindful, to name a few.
Horses have no agenda, accept us as we are, and foster congruence (what we show on the outside matches how we feel on the inside).
Theories
Heart to heart with horses: The horse's heart is 4-6X larger and up to 10X heavier than ours, radiating a powerful, rhythmic, measurable, electromagnetic field. There is a 2 way herd field effect which can overlap and impact anyone in the field, whether we are consciously aware of it or not.
Biophilia Hypothesis: Humans seek connections with nature and other forms of life. In the past, when we were hunter gatherers, for survival we became attuned to animals, relying on their superior senses and instincts to alert us to danger.
A relationship with an animal provides unconditional positive regard.
